The Newark Land Bank
The Newark Land Bank is the first of its kind in New Jersey, with a mission to acquire, maintain, and repurpose vacant, abandoned, and foreclosed properties and return them to productive use in the City of Newark. It pursues programs such as Move-In Ready sales (targeted especially toward first-time homebuyers) and the Housing Choice Voucher Conversion Program (HCVCP), which are designed to expand homeownership opportunities for low- and moderate-income families. In its property portfolio, the Newark Land Bank makes available a variety of redevelopment opportunities, including vacant lots, side lots (available to adjacent homeowners), and commercial or mixed-use parcels. The organization encourages responsible developers who have strong visions and viable redevelopment plans to restore these properties, thereby revitalizing neighborhoods, increasing property values, and contributing to broader community renewal.
